Kapow Technologies History- Kapow Technologies A/S was co-founded in 1998 by CTO Stefan Andreasen. The initial idea was to create the largest marketplace for expensive goods in Europe, by collecting items for sale from websites on the Web.
To do this, Kapow Technologies had to develop a new cutting-edge technology that could automate the data extraction process from several thousand web sites, while normalizing and cleansing the data. - By 2000, Kapow accomplished the original goal and became the largest marketplace in Europe, extracting millions of items for sales from over 5000 websites.
- In 2001, the marketplace was sold to the largest bank in Demark, and Kapow Technologies Inc. was formed. Its mission was to build out web data extraction platform for SMB and enterprise companies.
- In 2003, Kapow Technologies signed its first worldwide OEM deal with BEA Systems, integrating Kapow RoboSuite with BEA (now Oracle) WebLogic Portal™.
- In 2004, with funding led by Kennet Partners, Kapow Technologies opened new offices in the U.S, Germany, The Netherlands and France. It also forged new partnerships and OEM deals with APR Smartlogik, Avinci, Inxight (now SAP), and Valtech.
- By 2006, Kapow Technologies acquired its 200th customer, and the Kapow Web Data Server had become the industry standard for automating access and extraction of web data and business logic from intranets, B2B networks and the worldwide Web. Through Kapow’s patented visual programming IDE tool, RoboMaker, Global 2000 companies and Web 2.0 startups were able to complete business automation and data access and extraction projects that were never before possible—at a fraction of the time and cost when compared to traditional IT and software development methods.
- In 2008, Kapow Technologies’ market leadership was further cemented by launching Kapow OnDemand (the first Web Data access and extraction SaaS offering), winning the Jolt Award for “Best Enterprise Tools”, and exceeding 300 customers worldwide, with investments from the leading international enterprises of Morgan Stanley and Walt Disney’s Steamboat Ventures, both Kapow Technologies customers.
